Two of emnos’ key retail clients Morrisons and Waitrose announced impressive Christmas Trading figures, with Year-on-Year sales growth of 6.5% and 9% respectively. In comparison, Tesco and Sainsbury’s recorded sales growth of 4.9% and 4.2%.

Morrisons, which runs 422 stores, said its fresh, value and party ranges had been a significant contributor to growth and also put their success down to their distinctive offer, eye-catching promotions and relentless focus of their core strengths of fresh food and great value. emnos have been working with Morrisons since 2007 and supporting them evaluate and enhance their promotional strategy and using a proprietary enhanced epos methodology to enable Morrisons to analyse customer level store behaviour.

Waitrose, part of the John Lewis group, contributed their success to “well stocked” branches and the ongoing appeal of both the quality of their range and the value of Essential Waitrose. emnos have been working with Waitrose since 2008 to help them leverage Customer Centric Retailing. Having initially developed and embedded a series of customer segmentations within their business, we have worked with the retailer to use customer insight to inform and improve pricing and ranging optimisation across their 227 stores.
